Sustainability has always been an important value to us. For that reason, we joined 1% for the Planet a few years ago. Being a small independent company based in Aotearoa New Zealand, 1% for the Planet has offered us the ability to help the Planet on a larger scale, which we could not do on our own.

Besides this contribution, we follow the cradle-to-cradle principles to minimize the waste that can result from designing, manufacturing, and selling our products. We also work towards reducing our carbon footprint and our impact on the environment.

To achieve this, our policy is:

To make our products last as long as possible. We have an ongoing focus on designing long-lasting packs and improving the durability of our products without increasing weight.
To make our product field-repairable and supply spare parts where possible.
To offer a low-cost repair service.
To recycle all recyclable materials used in the business, rather than sending them to landfill.
When the product has finished its working life, we ask you to return it to Aarn Packs rather than sending it to a landfill. We will disassemble it and recover all reusable materials.
As biodegradable materials become available that meet our performance and durability criteria, we will adopt them.

Aarn Packs pledges 1% of all sales to Environmental Causes

Aarn Packs joined 1% for the Planet, pledging to donate 1% of annual sales to support environmental organizations focused on the environment.

"Currently, only 3% of total philanthropy goes to the environment, and, only 5% of that comes from businesses. The Planet needs bigger support than this, and our growing network of business members is doing its valuable part to increase giving and support on-the-ground outcomes. We're excited to welcome Aarn Packs to our global movement,"says Kate Williams, CEO of 1% for the Planet.

By contributing 1% of their annual sales, thousands of 1% for the Planet members have raised over $300 million to support approved Environmental Partners around the globe. Environmental Partners are approved based on referrals, track record and environmental focus. Thousands of Environmental Partners worldwide are currently approved.

Beside this contribution, we are also focusing on reducing our impact on the environment. "In choosing which brand you purchase, the impact on the environment is essential.
We aim to adopt the cradle-to-cradle principles developed by William McDonough and partners (see www.mbdc.com).
The main principles are to change the material cycle from 'cradle to grave' to 'cradle to cradle' using 100% recyclable materials; to eliminate any toxic materials from the cycle, and to replace non-biodegradable materials with biodegradable ones as they become available",explains Aarn Tate, founder and designer at Aarn Packs.
